Anyway, these reminded me of a store/restaurant I recently found called Northern Spy Food Co. in the E. Village, which specializes in local and seasonal ingredients, and sells many pickled items from small producers. It's not as good as homemade, but it's definitely the next best bet. Okay, full disclosure: I love pickled stuff, but I HATE fennel.
